Why are these western countries building bases in Syria? Are they going to leave once the country stabilizes or are they going to use these bases as Guantanamo styled detention centres. I think the pipeline will still be built, courtesy the Kurds and the bully. How could they do as they want in a sovereign country? Where exists international morals and integrity?

france has money to build bases in another sovereign country but does not have money to pay the workers who keep france afloat. Also, would it not make sense to keep some of that money at home to reduce the domestic pressure brought about by the austerity program insisted upon france by the mother ship Brussels?

      copius, Imperial habits die hard.
    • yea.. this news is confusing.
France has not been invited, so their mere presence is illegal under International Law, forget the base.

      how does this make sense?

      Where is the UN?
Russia & Assad should bomb them.

May I read the official binding agreement, France got to do that ????
Ratified, of course, by the legitimate head of state, Bachar el'Assad.
And, yes, the French government has a lot of money for illegitimate wars. They steal it from their citizens' pockets.
This government is the worst since the Maréchal Pétain's one. And Cameron and Hollande, are the new Sykes Picot, colonialists to the core !
