Over 2,000 militants from Syrian terror groups, "moderate rebels" forces gathered in Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood, as al-Nusra Front militants kept shelling the district overnight, the Russian military said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Al-Nusra Front militants continued overnight to shell the Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in northern Aleppo, Russia’s Syrian reconciliation center said Monday.

"As darkness fell, terrorist groups opened heavy fire from a window of the Castello trade center, which was formerly held by ‘moderate opposition’ forces," a member of the Russian Defense Ministry’s center based in Hmeymin said.

"Fierce fighting is underway on the outskirts of the Sheikh Maqsood district. Militants continue pulling armed vehicles and cars with mounted large-caliber machine guns to the area," the Russian military official added.

He said more than 2,000 militants from both terror groups and "moderate opposition" forces had gathered near Sheikh Maqsood, which has been greatly damaged by artillery fire. Dozens of civilians have been killed or injured.

No different than if Obama himself ordered the shelling. He's had dozens of opportunities to stop this and just kept pushing.

I keep hearing how there would be more war if Obama wasn't POTUS, but I don't see how.

I just got news from the terrorist groups in Syria that that all moderates, is, ISIL, al Nusra are now United as one group call the "AL-HYENA". The al-hyena will act, fight, and brave as the Hyena - willing to face the lion - That is what they said.

I think Russia should've carried through to kill every one until the last terrorist. The so called peace deal with the US was a mistake, its allowed them to rearm their proxies to create more havoc. Russia knows it's important for her to stop these terrorists in Syria, so it's confusing why they didn't finish the job by securing the borders. Anyway, that's just MHO
    • If they're all in one place that should make them an easy target for Russian bombers.

To fight in those ruin streets, here is my advice to Assad troops: equipted with lot of 60mm or 80mm mortars and some good pairs of sound detection (electronic ears). Those Al-Hyena (DAESH) Torrorists often very loud, all are standing up, and hiding just behind a wall or building. Thus 60 or 80 mortar rounds are perfect for such targets. With the electronic ears, Assad soldiers can pinpoint the exact locomotion and sound location. Those 60mm mortar wouldn't miss a direct hit. Let me try !

Moderate rebels that group with terrorists will be considered as terrorists and will be killed.
There will be NO protection for such traitors to Syria.
