    An American photojournalist and his interpreter on an assignment in Afghanistan were killed Sunday, US media rported.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US National Public Radio (NPR) photojournalist and his interpreter were killed Sunday while on an assignment in Afghanistan, the broadcaster said in a statement.

    David Gilkey and NPR's Afghan interpreter Zabihulla Tamanna were travelling with an Afghan army unit when they came under attack, the details of which were not disclosed.
