Nusra Front, Daesh Use Ceasefire to Regroup, Replenish Stocks of Weapons

Nusra Front and Daesh terrorists conducted regrouping of forces and replenished stocks of weapons and ammunition, before starting to take active actions, according to a spokesman for the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeymim airbase.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Nusra Front and Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) militants used Syria ceasefire to carry out regrouping in the coutnry's Aleppo province and replenish their stocks of weapons, a spokesman for the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeymim airbase said Saturday.

"Taking advantage of the cessation of hostilities and the fact that the units of this terrorist organizations are [stationed] in the same areas as the formations of so-called 'moderate opposition,' on which the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force do not carry out strikes, Nusra Front conducted regrouping of forces and replenished stocks of weapons and ammunition, before starting to take active actions. At the moment, the terrorist groups experience no shortage of ammunition or weapons," the spokesman told reporters.

The ceasefire in Syria worked out by Russia and the United States took effect on February 27. The cessation of hostilities does not apply to terrorist organizations, such as the Daesh and the Nusra Front, outlawed in a number of countries worldwide including Russia and the United States.
