Israeli Defense Forces Kill Knife-Wielding Female Palestinian in West Bank

A Palestine female, who tried to attack an Israeli soldier with a knife in the West Bank, was fatally shot, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman.

TEL AVIV (Sputnik) — Israeli military shoot dead a Palestine female, who allegedly tried to attack an Israeli soldier with a knife in the West Bank, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said Thursday.

"Assailant w/ knife tried to stab #IDF soldier at a post near Tulkarem. Forces responded to threat & shot attacker, resulting in her death," Peter Lerner wrote on his Twitter account.

​The woman is said to be dead. No victims are reported from the military's side.

Though an upsurge in Israeli-Palestinian violence has diminished, the attacks in the region still continue.

Earlier in the week, a Palestinian boy lightly wounded a soldier in Tel Aviv. On May 23, Israeli border policeman shot a female Palestine, attempting to attack him with a knife at a checkpoint in northern Jerusalem.

Media reports suggest Israeli-Palestinian tensions have claimed the lives of at least 200 Palestinians and 28 Israelis since October.

Palestinians strive for creating their own state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which is partially occupied by Israel, and the Gaza Strip.
