BAGHDAD (Sputnik) — A Daesh "court" in the Islamist-controlled city of Tal Afar, west of the Daesh stronghold Mosul, accused the militants of deserting the battlefield and ordered to burn them alive in a bakery oven.
The source in Mosul said that the brutal execution was carried out in public and the charred bodies were left lying in the street.
Ar-Rutbah was overrun by Daesh terrorists in 2014 and retaken by Iraq’s government forces last week. Daesh, outlawed in multiple countries, including the United States and Russia, still controls large swaths of land in northern and western Iraq. On Sunday, the Iraqi government announced the start of an offensive against its second stronghold in Fallujah.
