BERLIN (Sputnik) — The inaugural UN-proposed World Humanitarian Summit, to be held in Istanbul next week, will set out a short- and medium-term roadmap for tackling humanitarian crises, the German government spokesman said Wednesday.
The summit take place in the Turkish city of Istanbul on May 23-24. Turkey is hosting almost 3 million of Syrian refugees, making it one of the host countries with the largest refugee populations.
"One of the main goals of the summit is to create a paradigm… of various humanitarian response mechanisms," Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin.
The government spokesman said the focus would be on how the international community could tackle the ever-rising number of humanitarian crises better, faster and in a more organized manner.
