    Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to hold meeting with the Syrian opposition groups in Vienna later on Monday.

    VIENNA (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to discuss the prospects of Syrian settlement and the political solution to the conflict with the country's opposition groups in Vienna later on Monday, a representative of the Astana platform at the Moscow-Cairo opposition group told Sputnik.

    Later in the day, Vienna is expected to host the meeting of International Syria Support Group (ISSG), co-chaired by both Russia and the United States.

    "We will have a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Vienna in the afternoon. He will meet the heads of Syrian opposition platforms: Astana, Moscow, Hmeimim and probably Cairo, as well as the Kurds," Randa Kassis said.

    "The issue of Geneva [talks] will be discussed at the meeting, as well as the ways of reaching political settlement and the prospects of political settlement," Kassis added.
