    Syrian Parliamentary Elections Turnout Exceeds 57% - Electoral Commission

    The turnout at the parliamentary elections in Syria exceeded 57 percent, local media reported Saturday, citing the country’s Electoral Commission.

    DAMASCUS (Sputnik) – Parliamentary elections were held in Syria on Wednesday. Over 3,500 candidates contested the 250 seats in Syria's parliament.

    "The number of citizens who participated in the elections to the People's Council amounted to 57.56 percent [of the electorate]," the commission said in a statement, as quoted by the SANA news agency.
