MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia's Ministry of Defense dismissed Qatari media reports on Wednesday that the Daesh terrorist group had downed a Russian warplane in Syria.
"A report by a Qatari TV station that a Russian aircraft was allegedly downed by Daesh terrorists near the city of Raqqa is an information provocation," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said, adding that no Russian aircraft were operating in the area when the alleged incident took place.
