WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Daesh jihadi group’s leader Abu Bakr Baghdadi is alive and is travelling between Syria and Iraq, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters on Friday.
"We know he is alive," Warren stated. "We also believe that he moves in between Syria and Iraq."
The spokesman said he hopes that Baghdadi was watching the press briefings at the US Department of Defense.
"I want him to know that we are hunting him," Warren said. "We are going to find Baghdadi. He will taste justice."
Baghdadi is the leader of the Islamic State, also known by its Arabic acronym Daesh, which is a designated terrorist organization outlawed in many countries, including the United States and Russia.
