MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Yemeni conflict threatens lives of six children daily, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said in a report on Tuesday.

About 10 million children in Yemen, or 80 percent of the country's minors, are in need of urgent humanitarian aid, according to the report.

Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Shiite Houthi rebels, the country’s main opposition force, who have been supported by army units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Since March 2015, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been carrying out airstrikes against Houthi positions at Hadi's request.
