US Central Command said in a statement Sunday the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit was assigned to support Iraqi Security Force and coalition ground operations in the campaign against Daesh, outlawed in many countries, including Russia.
"If the US administration does not withdraw its troops immediately, we will deal with these forces as occupational and it has to bear the full consequences," the Asaib Ahl Haq, also known as the Khazali Network, said in a message on Alahad broadcaster's Facebook page.
"The Asaib Ahl Haq Islamic Resistance demands the parliament and its specialized committees to perform its role to reveal the presence of US troops in Iraq," the group continued.
The group was said to be behind several attacks on the US military in the mid-2000s in Iraq and rejoined the political reconciliation process after the end of major combat operations.
