MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin highly estimated the performance of the Russian Aerospace Forces during the anti-terrorist operation in Syria.
"It was the strategic and tactical aviation that have carried out the most difficult and dangerous tasks, and military pilots have performed them perfectly," he said at an award ceremony in Moscow.
On March 14, Putin announced that the Russian armed forces had fulfilled their mission in Syria and their withdrawal would begin the following day.
Russia started a military operation against terrorists in Syria on September 30 at the request of President Bashar Assad.
