Washington noted reduction in the amount of activity against the opposition forces, according to Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Steve Warren.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States has noted a significant decrease in operations against the Syrian opposition forces by Russia and the Syrian Army, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Steve Warren said during a press briefing on Wednesday.

"In accordance with the agreed cessation of hostilities, we have seen a fairly notable reduction in the amount of activity against the opposition forces," Warren stated. "The regime forces are in the process of attacking ISIL [Islamic State] forces in and around Palmira. The Russian forces have continued to provide support for that operation."

Warren added that in general, "there have not been significant offensive operations against the opposition."
