Russia is rendering a service to Europe by fighting terrorists in Syria, President Bashar Assad’s adviser Bouthaina Shaaban said.
"Russia’s enormous efforts against terrorism and for peace not only in Syria but also in Europe and the entire world will leave a mark in history. Terrorism is a threat to all of us, especially to Europe. I think that Russia is rendering a service to Europe by fighting terrorists in Syria," Shaaban said in an interview with BBC.
According to her, the Russian military in Syria is supporting the government in its fight against terrorism and helping to restore peace and security in the country.
The Russian aerial campaign in Syria began on September 30, 2014. The Russian Aerospace Forces have supported the ground operation of the Syrian Army against terrorists. Since the beginning of the operation, Russian jets destroyed thousands of terrorist targets, including command points, ammo depots, training camps, and oil facilities.
