Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit has been appointed on the office of a new Secretary-General of the Council of the Arab League.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — The Council of the Arab League has unanimously approved former Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit as new Secretary-General of the 22-member organization, a source in the Arab League headquarters said Thursday.

"Aboul Gheit was unanimously approved for the post," the source told RIA Novosti.
