The ceasefire regime in Syria was violated 15 times over the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Meanwhile, the total number of ceasefire agreements has reached 38.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Fifteen violations in the ceasefire agreement in Syria have been registered in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a bulletin Tuesday.

“Results of controlling the observance of the ceasefire: over the last 24 hours, 15 violations of the ceasefire have been registered. The majority of violations were observed in Damascus and the provinces of Aleppo, Homs, and Latakia,” the bulletin reads.

On February 23, the United States and Russia reached an agreement to implement a ceasefire in Syria, to ensure humanitarian aid flows and take a tangible step toward a political resolution of the five-year-old conflict.

The cessation of hostilities went into effect on Saturday, following the passage of resolution 2268 by the UN Security Council. The ceasefire applies to all fighting parties in Syria, except Daesh, Nusra Front and other groups designated as terrorist by the United Nations.

“Over the last 24 hours agreements on the ceasefire were signed with four unit commanders from the moderate opposition controlling Dumayr [in the Damascus province]. The overall number of signed agreements has reached 38,” the bulletin reads.
