MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Syria is calling on the UN Security Council and Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to condemn the twin terrorist attacks in the western Syrian city of Homs, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
"The Syrian Government asks the UN Security Council and the Secretary General to subject these terrorist crimes to sharp and immediate condemnation, and demands the Security Council fulfill its obligation to protect international peace and security, to adopt deterrent measures against sponsors of terrorism, in particular Saudi Arabia and Qatar," the ministry said
The ministry said the two car bomb explosions were a "Turkish-Saudi response" to the exposure of their role in fueling the Syrian crisis, and an attempt to "prevent diplomatic efforts to find a political solution."
