New Battlefront: Daesh in Libya Threatens Europe’s Underbelly
CAIRO (Sputnik) – Libya has formed a 13-member consensus government almost a year after launching UN-brokered peace talks aiming to resolve the political turmoil in the North African state, Arab media reported Monday.

"Libyan consensus government formed, it includes 13 ministers," the Al Arabiya news network cited sources as saying.

Three women are included in the consensus government and Al-Mahdi Al-Burghutni is appointed new defense minister, it added.

Libya has been plagued by violence since 2011 when a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

The peace talks began on March 6, 2015, amid intermittent clashes between two rival governments and Islamist fighters.

On February 8, the country's Presidency Council said it needed another week to name a truncated list of cabinet members after rejecting a 32-member government last month.
