Saudi Arabia is deploying warplanes to the Turkish Incirlik base to fight Daesh, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

"They (Saudi officials) came, did a reconnaissance of the base. At the moment it is not clear how many planes will come," Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was quoted as saying by the Yeni Safak and Haberturk newspapers after taking part in the Munich Security Conference.

The deployment is part of the US-led effort to defeat Daesh terrorist group, he added. Incirlik is a key hub for US-led coalition operations againstDaesh (ISIL/ISIS/IS).

The Foreign Minister also said that Turkey and Saudi Arabia could launch a ground operation against terrorists in Syria.

"If there is a strategy (against Daesh) then Turkey and Saudi Arabia could enter into a ground operation," Cavusoglu said.

"They (Saudi Arabia) said 'If necessary we can also send troops'. Saudi Arabia is showing great determination in the fight against terror in Syria," he added.

Earlier it was reported that Saudi Arabia was ready to send its special forces as part of US-led coalition.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the army loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting several opposition factions and militant organizations, including Daesh terrorist group, which is banned in a number of countries, including Russia and the United States.

The US-led coalition of some 60 nations, including Saudi Arabia among others, has been launching airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and Iraq since 2014. However, the operation in Syria is conducted without the approval of the UN Security Council or Syrian authorities.

If Saudi and Turkey tried to bomb Syrian or its allies in the name of fighting terrorism, so could the Russians bomb the new comers in the name of fighting terrorists. In the mean time Syrians and Russians should install all sorts of Glassnos Sensors all over strategic lands lands that they have occupied. If those places come under enemy hands in the future, the Syrians and its Allies will know where to rain their Kalib Missiles.

landauroj, this war in Syria is as much Chinese war as it is Russians war, any forceful removal of Syrian legitimate government by force will affect China as much as Russia. The Chinese should step in to fight for their national interest too. If not involved Militarily, the Chinese should at least cover the major cost of the war for the sake of their own national interest. The Chinese should stop acting like leeches who suck the nector produced with the blood and sweat of others.
      Mighty dangerous stuff.

If Saudi Arabia attacks Syria, the Syrian's will be legally justified in attacking Saudi Arabia. Attacks on the oil distribution network of Saudi Arabia would cause the price of oil to rise overnight. Perhaps this is what the US is wishing for after the Saudi's actions that have caused many the US fracking companies to default on their loans.

jerrys57, Check out the military in NATO and then sit back and laugh.

How is the US doing with their $600 billion defence budget? Does anything work?

Then, take out the top member of NATO and look at the austerity cuts that can be found in the rest of the nations.

At the end of the day, besides the poppy harvest in Afghan, what success has NATO ever had? Zero.

The US has been fighting since 4 July 1776, excluding 22 years total peace, and yet the only nation they beat, last century, was the tiny island of Grenada and how long did that take?

landauroj, Qatar to Europe gas/oil pipeline and Assad says 'NO' we are not handing over our natural resources and neither are Iraq and Iran.

If Ukraine tries to fire up, it will make no difference. The NAZIs have no money coming in and the farmers and miners of Eastern Ukraine have already shown they can handle anything from Kiev. How many cauldrons have they set up and how many have been trapped in them?

Clearly they didn't cause they never expected half the stuff the Russians did. And the cost of this opperation is cheap. $1.3B after a year or so? That comes out of the training budget.

Dont talk out of your ass.

Moments ago inside the provincial capital of the Dara’a Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Mechanized Division – backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – captured half of the Dara’a Al-Balad District, including several sites in the northern sector that were under the control of the Islamist rebels from the Free Syrian Army (FSA). According to a military source from the 5th Armored Division headquarters in the city of Izra’a, the Syrian Armed Forces have seized the Dara’a Police Station and most of the Bajaya neighborhood after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group). The Dara’a Balad District was originally under the control of the Islamist rebel fighters up until November of 2015; since then, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division and their allies have been able to reach the Old Dara’a border post and several neighborhoods that are located south of the Dara’a National Hospital inside the provincial capital.

If this was not so scary it would be almost funny. They will send some poor schmucks to provoke Russia into shoothing them down and then they will cry how they were attacked by Russia and ofcourse all of the western media will repeat and enlarge that story, it will play on CNN 24 hours a day and good old Wolf Blitzer will do his special report with his famous fire stalking voice. Untill they are sure that American people ( Turkish or Saudi people ) are convinced ( at least for a moment ) that they have to respond with a force. So there it is my brothers World War 3 brought to you by the "Leaders of the Free world " Champions of human right and democracy, right.....????

landauroj, Great observation. Ukraine will start burning again as soon as Turkey gets openly involved in Syria. But make no mistake Russia has no Achilles heel, Putin predicted every step NATO will take far ahead. That's how Donbas was able to fight entire Ukranian army, they already had weapons they were ready before it happened that's how no one had a proof of Russian supplies crossing border at the time of conflict, the weapons were already there. Same thing with Syria, everything is already in place. " Desperation" on Russia's part to reach consensus is not from the weakness but for genuine regard for loss of life that will happen and what it might mean for the future of all humanity. The so called leaders of the free world are the enslavers of everything that is free, and they will not stop until they are stopped. " Keep telling people that they are free and eventually they will stop pulling on their chains"

I can't see the IRGC not having scoped out the invasion routes to KSA from Yemen. They've been steadfast with the Houthis. They can open up a KSA second front if anyone can.
    • Russia is being tested in a game of chicken to lose face. So far only Russian aircraft have been downed by NATO with none by Russia.

This Saudi invasion will prove a real test of the Russian missile defenses. If you mean business, shoot and destroy all non Syrian-Russian-Iranian aircraft in the air, at sea and on the ground.
