Daesh Abducts 400 in Syrian City of Deir ez-Zor – Reports
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The scale of the crisis in besieged areas of Syria is far worse than the United Nations has estimated, according to the report.

According to data revealed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in January, almost 500,000 people are living in siege conditions in Syria, with about 200,000 people besieged in the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor alone.

"New data… shows that there are well over 1,000,000 Syrians under siege in locations in Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs, Deir Ezzor, and Idlib governorates," the report by Siege Watch, a joint initiative of the Netherlands-based aid group PAX and the Washington-based Syria Institute, reads.

The Siege Watch project aims to provide the international community with up-to-date information on Syria’s besieged communities.
