The United States’ offer to supply Iraqi forces with Apache attack helicopters still stands despite an initial refusal by the Iraqi government to receive them, US-led coalition commander Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland said during a press conference on Monday.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) — In December, the Iraqi military carried out an offensive to reclaim the city of Ramadi, located 110 kilometers west of Baghdad, from the Daesh.

The operation was reportedly carried out without the use of Apache helicopters that were offered by the US military, according to the US Department of Defense.

"In regard to the Apaches… we can’t inflict help on somebody," MacFarland stated. "They have to ask for it, they have to want it, and we’re here to provide it as required."

Iraq's army has since announced that it had regained full control over Ramadi after Daesh terrorists occupied the city in May.
