Istanbul Main Hub for Russians Heading to Syria to Fight in Daesh Ranks

The main route of Russians willing to join the Daesh terrorist group lies through Turkey's capital Istanbul, according to the National Anti-Terror Committee.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Most Russians heading to Syria to fight on the sides of terrorists transfer through Istanbul, the aide to the head of the National Anti-Terror Committee said Friday.

"The main route is made by international flights to Istanbul. Daesh's 'special services' run a check on new arrivals to become candidates in terrorist ranks, and then they're sent on to Syria," Andrei Przhezdomsky told journalists.
