The Daesh militant group has claimed responsibility for recent deadly attacks in the northeastern Syrian city of Qamishli, local media reported Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Sunday, sources in the Assyrian Christian militia told RIA Novosti that at least two people had died and over 10 people wounded in twin blasts in Qamishli, which is a Kurdish city on the border with Turkey.

"We won’t allow ISIL terrorists to destabilize our city. We will do everything we can to maintain the civil peace and security in Qamishli and other areas in this region," a member of the Kurdish security forces told ARA News.

According to him, the death toll from the blasts amounts to three people.

In late December, three explosions occurred in Qamishli, killing at least 16 people and injuring dozens of others. The attacks were carried out Daesh suicide bombers.

Daesh, which occupies vast tracts of Iraq and Syria and is outlawed in many countries including Russia, has gained much notoriety. The jihadists conduct suicide bombings and other attacks worldwide.

The group, outlawed in a range of countries, including Russia, has forced thousands of people, mostly religious minorities, to flee their homes.

Turkey will put their hand up to defend the Kurds against ISIS, right? That would not surprise me a bit. Erdogan has lost the plot.
