A Yemeni man pleaded guilty in US court to charges of providing support to the al-Qaeda terrorist group, the US Justice Department said in a statement Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin, who announced the guilty plea, said Hamidi received training from al-Qaeda in northwestern Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas in early 2008.

"Ali Alvi al-Hamidi, 31, a Yemeni national, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to murder US nationals abroad, conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda and receiving military-type training from al-Qaeda," the department said.
