"Qatar is a very important part of the situation in the Middle East, in the gulf. We are counting on discussing this situation with you, to exchange opinions, to look for solutions and outcomes of the most problematic and complex issues," Putin said during a meeting with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Thani in Moscow.
The emir arrived in Moscow late Sunday for a series of official meetings with Russian authorities.
During the meeting, the Qatari leader highlighted Russia’s role as decisive when it comes to achieving global stability.
Thani’s visit comes a month after Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Attiyah met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow to discuss a set of bilateral and international issues.
