In the wake of terrorist attacks in Sinai and Paris, Israel is preparing for possible attacks on its borders with Syria conducted by various jihadist groups, including those linked to Daesh, also known as Islamic State.

Analyzing recent terrorist attacks around the world, Israeli intelligence concluded that extremists have altered their global jihad tactics, focusing instead on westernized targets, Haaretz reported.

Why Daesh Leader Voiced Grave Threats Against Israel
Under the purported new strategy, one terrorist attack scenario includes the use of a vehicle equipped with explosives in Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Other attacks against Israel could take the form of anti-tank fire, rocket fire and explosive charges.

Shuhada al-Yarmouk (“The Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade”), a terrorist group that gained control of a 10-square kilometer area in the south of Golan Heights, where the borders of three states meet, could carry out such an attack, the IDF suggested. But an attack won’t happen soon, as the brigade is focused on fighting Jabhat al-Nusra, a terrorist group affiliated with Daesh.

IDF stated that the weakest point in the Golan Heights border, a crossing at Quneitra, is at risk of being targeted by jihadists. Israeli military representatives claim that extremists could carry out localized “tactical” attacks as well as Daesh-style attacks from the center.
