WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against Daesh has eliminated 10 leaders of the terrorist group, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Col. Steven Warren told reporters on Tuesday.
“Over the past month, we have killed 10 ISIL [Islamic State] leadership figures with targeted airstrikes,” Warren said in a briefing.
The coalition spokesperson added that the killed Daesh leaders included several attack planners, some of whom designed attacks in the West, and a computer systems engineer responsible for Daesh hacking efforts, anti-surveillance technology and weapons development.
"As long as ISIL external attack planners are operating, the US military will hunt them and kill them," Warren stated.
Daesh is a designated terrorist organization that is outlawed in numerous countries, including in Russia. The group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and declared a caliphate there under the rule of Sharia law.
