The Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces regained full control of the Maheen Mountains after hours of heavy clashes with Daesh (Islamic State) terrorists.
"Jabal Maheen overlooks the strategic town of Maheen and it is one of the most important sites along the Maheen-Sadad Road that was under the ISIL control last week," the army announced as quoted by FARS News.
Now, with the Maheen Mountains under control, the government forces are coming closer to the northern gates of the town. The army has the advantage of the terrorists as it has occupied an elevated position.
On Monday, the army continued its large-scale military offensive in the province of Homs and took control of a strategically important mountainous region near Maheen.
The Syrian Army launched a large-scale military operation to take control of the key town of Maheen, and seized strategic regions during the first stage of the operation.
On Monday, the army announced that Daesh’s rule over the town of Maheen was about to collapse, adding that its troops were preparing an attack.
"The ISIL [Daesh] has pulled back forces from several positions near Maheen, and pro-government forces are about to enter the town," the army confirmed.
