MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a heavy explosion took place near Kabul's airport, however, there were no reports about casualties.

All the wounded and a killed person were said to be civilians, CNN reported, citing Afghan authorities.
According to Tolo news portal, the number of injured people increased up to 31. The portal also reported that all of them were civilians.
Taliban Islamic movement claimed responsibility for the attack, adding that they had targeted a military convoy of the United States and their allies.
Afghanistan is currently in a political and social turmoil, with the Taliban and other extremist organizations such as Daesh (Islamic State, outlawed in Russia) taking advantage of instability and capturing vast territories in the country.
