Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said that the possibility of sending UN observers to the Turkish-Syrian border is currently not being considered.

People react as smoke billows from burning pallets set on fire during clashes between Turkish riot policemen and Kurdish protesters in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir on November 1, 2015 after first results of the Turkish general election showed a clear victory to the Justice and Development Party (AKP). Turkish police fired tear gas and water cannon at Kurds who were protesting after the election appeared to deliver a clear victory to AKP, an AFP photographer said. Latest results say the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) won slightly over 10 percent of the vote, just enough to scrape into parliament. - Sputnik International
Why 'Turkey Can Easily Become a New Syria'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) The possibility of sending UN observers to the Turkish-Syrian border is currently not being considered, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Friday.

"This issue is not being practically considered at this time," Gatilov told RIA Novosti.

Gatilov added that a priority matter is the creation of an agreed list of terrorist groups and a representative opposition group to launch political dialogue with the Syrian government to resolve the four-year Syrian civil war.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting against numerous opposition factions and extremist groups.

International talks on the settlement of the Syrian crisis started in October. Earlier this month, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Syrian settlement, which reaffirmed the goals to bring the entire spectrum of the political groups in the country to the negotiating table and said the next round of the talks would take place in January 2016.

According to the deputy foreign minister, the UN Security Council' s resolution also outlined the need for a mechanism to check a ceasefire observation by all parties to the conflict, once it is established.
