MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Hadianfar, as cited by the Tasnim News Agency, over the last eight months, officers from the country's cyber police division have identified 132 sites that contain terrorist content. Hadianfar specified that pro-Daesh Internet users were largely based in the border provinces.
Daesh controls vast territories of Syria and Iraq and is currently considered to be one the main threats to global security. It is known for using its online presence to recruit new members from around the world.
In October, media reports suggested that Iranian soldiers had been deployed in Syria. Official Tehran, however, acknowledged only deliveries of weapons and military advisers to Syria to help fight Daesh militants.
Russia, which has outlawed Daesh, designating it a terrorist organization, has been conducting airstrikes against the group's positions in Syria since September 30, following a request from President Bashar Assad.
