UK Bombing Raids in Syria Target Daesh-Held Oilfield
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the BBC, the jets, two Tornados and two Typhoons, were aiming at the group’s oil fields.

The first UK strikes against the Islamic State (IS or Daesh in Arabic) positions in Syria were carried out Thursday, a day after the country’s lawmakers approved the military campaign.

The United Kingdom has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh positions in Iraq since September 2014, as part of a US-led international coalition against the terrorist group, which is prohibited in Russia.

Moscow has been carrying out a separate aerial campaign against the terrorist group in Syria since September 30, at the request of President Bashar Assad.
