PARIS (Sputnik) – Charles de Gaulle, aircraft carrier flagship of the French Navy, was deployed to the eastern Mediterranean to boost anti-terrorist operations in Syria as Paris has intensified its bombing campaign against Daesh after the deadly Paris attacks on November 13.
“Today, the Republic’s president will arrive on board the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier deployed near the shores of Syria. He will meet with servicemen who are participating in the fight against Daesh [also known as ISIL] in Syria and Iraq,” the communique reads.
