Iraqi security forces recovered and destroyed 18 dolls disguised as bombs in al-Husseiniya, a Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad, PressTV reported. Militants planned to place the explosive devices along the road linking the capital and the city of Karbala.

Next month, millions of Shiite pilgrims from around the world will walk this path during the annual Arbaeen. The event marks the end of the 40-day mourning following the Day of Ashura, which commemorates the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
Last year, as many as 17.5 million made the pilgrimage to Karbala, located 65 south-west of the capital. Approximately 40,000 law enforcement officers were deployed to the area to enhance security. Three people died in a bombing in Baghdad.
A record 20 million people traveled to the shrine of Imam Hussein in 2013, PressTV reported. That year dozens of Shiite pilgrims were killed in terrorist acts committed by al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.
