French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that airstrikes at all the possibilities of the ISIL are needed to defeat the militant group.

PARIS (Sputnik) — Airstrikes against various non-military facilities of the Islamic State (ISIL) militant group are essential to defeat the jihadist organization, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Sunday.

On Saturday, ISIL claimed responsibility for the deadly terror attacks in Paris that killed some 130 people. According to local media reports, the attacks were revenge for French involvement in the Syrian civil war.

"We should strike at all the possibilities of the ISIL. [Oil facilities] are needed to support the financing of this 'quazistate'. Hundreds of trucks come to such terminals every day. ISIL purchases weapons that are used in its military campaigns. There are another similar places and we will continue to hit them," Le Drian said in an interview to the French Journal du Dimanche.

On September 27, Paris began conducting anti-ISIL airstrikes, joining a US-led coalition of 60 NATO and Arab countries that are currently operating without UN Security Council or Syrian government approval.

Earlier in November, France conducted airstrikes against oil pumping stations controlled by the IS on Syrian territory.
