    US-Led Coalition Conducts 6 Airstrikes Against ISIL in Syria

    The US-led coalition against ISIL launched 25 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in a statement on Wednesday.

    WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The airstrikes targeted ISIL fighting positions, tactical units, pipefitters, rigs and excavators.

    "In Syria, coalition military forces conducted six strikes using attack, ground-attack, fighter, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft," CENTCOM stated.

    "Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 19 strikes coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq using bomber, fighter, attack, ground-attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets," CENTCOM added.

    The aerial attacks hit Islamic State staging areas, buildings, weapons caches, vehicles, fighting positions as well as vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices.
