Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby discussed coordination of efforts to resolve the crisis in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The ministry said that during the discussion, the sides had exchanged views on situations in the Middle East and Northern Africa with an emphasis on the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen, as well as Palestinian-Israeli resolution.

"[The sides] confirmed the mutual interest to increase coordinated collective efforts in the interest of the political and diplomatic resolution of the critical situation in the region while simultaneously counteracting the threat coming from ISIL and other terrorist organizations," the statement read.

The sides also agreed to intensify preparation for a ministerial meeting of the Russian-Arab forum, which will take place in Moscow before the end of the year.
