Various Islamist militant groups are hiding behind different names, but they are all fulfilling the same functions as ISIL, and Washington is set to arm the 'Syrian opposition' without being able to tell one group from another, the founder and editor of International NSNBC news portal Dr. Christof Lehmann told Radio Sputnik.

Lehman does not believe that giving arms to the Syrian opposition, a policy of the US government, can possibly help stabilize the situation in the region, he said in an interview on Tuesday.

“I think, the US should answer [a] series of questions. Number one: who exactly is this opposition? Are they wearing military uniforms, insignia, who is commanding them, what exactly is the command structure, are they adherent to the rules of warfare, etc? All that we don’t have any answers [to],” the expert revealed.

By refusing to provide the Russian military with ISIL's coordinates in Syria, the US-led coalition is conducting its own strategy, Lehman explains.

“It’s an attempt to spread the belt of low-intensity conflicts from the Mediterranean to Baluchistan along the soft and resource-rich underbelly of Russia and former Soviet republics … to China, Lehmann describes. “That’s an attempt to destabilize that region and to weaken the Russian Federation and other Central-Asian countries,” he points out.

“[The] Russian government’s assessment … that airstrikes in Syria would be necessary also to maintain Russian national security interests is a correct one,” Lehman stated.

Commenting on a recent announcement by a spokesman of al-Nusra Front, an al-Qaeda branch in Syria, calling for a crusade against Russia to avenge their airstrikes, Lehman shed light on the affiliations and purpose of this organization.

“Al-Nusra [Front] is … Saudi, in part Qatar, in part pro-Israeli proxy… These statements are basically a proxy’s statements towards Russia within the context of creating the belt of low-intensity conflicts [across the region],” Lehman described.

There little difference between the various Islamist militant groups, currently waging war in Syria, the expert points out.

“These organizations, al-Nusra [Front], ISIL, Liwa al-Islam, Southern Shield, and others – all can easily swap names, be exchanged, have a slight change in command structure, but the function remains the same,” Lehman revealed.

Defeating ISIL won’t be enough, he believes.

“It doesn’t really matter, whether one would defeat ISIL, or whether ISIL disintegrates… There will be others who have exactly the same function,” Lehman added.
The expert sees a reconfiguration of the Middle East unavoidable.

“There are issues like the drawing of borders by former colonial powers, there is a Kurdish question, the latest national group that doesn’t have a state,” Lehmann explained, and concluded “There are a lot of issues there.”

Who is the so-called Syrian ''opposition''? Their leaders are West poopets - living out of Syria for years - who promised that once they will be installed they will free Syria... from its resources... Meaning that they will give Syria's resources to the Western powers...

They have no interest and no concern what-so-ever for the well-being of the Syrian people... otherwise they wouldn't have asked for weapons to arm the so-called ''rebels'' and to start the DESTRUCTION of Syria. In fact the ''rebels'' / ''freedom fighters'' are a gang of assorted mixture of common criminals, mercenaries, extremists - with no regard towards to civil population, with no wish of ''democracy''...

The Syrian ''opposition'' = TRAITORS doing their best to ruin Syria and kill the civil population... in the interest of the Western powers + Saudi Arabia + Qatar.

The Syrian ''opposition'' is financed and armed by those who want to oust an elected president, killing those who support the legitimate president = TRAITORS - which do NOT have any moral right to be involved in negotiations.

Westerners - how do you feel IF there will be ''freedom fighters'' in your own country - payed and armed by ''foreign powers'' - trying to overthrow the elected gov? What will be your reaction? Will you accept a coup in your own country?

WHY the Westerners think that it is their RIGHT to change other country gov?

The US & allies arrogance and aggressiveness (''exceptionalism'') already DESTROYED Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya and killed Saddam and Qaddafi. And the consequence is the HUGE tsunami of illegal immigrants crossing Mediterana and coming in Europe.

Coups d'etat should be made ILLEGAL and punished by International Court.

Why hypocrite EU countries & US are ''friends'' with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain - knowing that their gov imprison and torture and ultimately kill their opposition?

Why do EU & US cover the proofs of the cruelty of those regimes?

Where are the PICTURES showing the people killed by those extremely repressive regimes?

And more recently - here in Europe - let's REMEMBER the US emissaries intercepted conversation in Kiev: Nuland & Pyatt plotted over the phone about installing ''Yats our man'' in front of a new gov... Then France FM + German FM + Polish PM signed an agreement with Yanoukovich and the Ukrainian ''opposition'' (US payed poopets) on the 21st of Feb 2015. Than agreement was NOT respected by Ukr opposition- and the result was a WAR with more than 8000 victims in the Eastern Ukraine! Even today - nobody knows for sure WHO shot the demonstrators and the Berkut security forces in Maidan... Ukraine is a FAILED and bankrupt state, a financial black-hole, ruled by corrupt ruthless oligarchs... because of a coup d'etat set-up and implemented by West...

Under Assad's rule Syria was a secular state, with highly educated people and a very decent standard of life.

Only-and-only Syrian people should decide WHO will be their president - not UK, not France, not US - or any other country for that matter.

US & allies have NO right what-so-ever to impose their arrogant mindless decision on the Syrian people!

Then, I suggest "moderate" bombings for "moderates", only 1000kg bombs, no more

It seems that the goal of the US is to supply ISIS using the "moderate rebels" as intermediaries, so to speak. Given how the US seems to care about removing Assad, more than fighting ISIS, they would seem to prefer ISIS ruling Syria, instead of Assad. The US isn't stupid, or militarily incompetent, so this must be the "plan" to appear that way. Russia has a big problem with the US media, when they (US) prefer blatant lies over proven facts on the ground. This is really bad to watch the US media lie this way, when it is so blatantly obvious. Instead of schools or movie theaters, mass shooters should choose network news broadcasters, while on air.
