The US-led coalition against ISIL conducted 14 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq to degrade the terrorist group’s personnel and infrastructure, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve said in a Facebook release on Friday.

WASHINGTON, (Sputnik) — Airstrikes in Syria eradicated four Islamic State tactical units, three fighting positions, two vehicles, a cache, and a motor tube.

“In Syria, coalition military forces conducted five airstrikes using fighter and remotely piloted aircraft,” the release read. “Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted nine airstrikes.”

The airstrikes were conducted near Ar Hasakah, Ar Raqqah, Manbij and Mar’a.

In Iraq, coalition airstrikes destroyed seven ISIL tactical units, two vehicles, four fighting positions, an excavator and a heavy machine gun. The aerial attacks were conducted near Al Huwayjah, Baji, Kirkuk, Mosul, Ramadi, Rawah and Sinjar.

The 62-nation US-led coalition has carried more than 6,500 airstrikes on ISIL targets since August 2014. US officials have estimated that the military campaign against ISIL has eliminated more than 10,000 of the terrorist group’s fighters.
