SANAA (Sputnik) According to the source, the airstrike was carried out on the municipality of Bakym, with several people injured in the attack. Despite civilian casualties, the coalition continues to carry out airstrikes in the province, which is considered a stronghold of the Houthi rebels.

Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict since the country’s main opposition group, the Houthis, forced the country’s government to resign in January.

A coalition of Arab states, led by Saudi Arabia, has been conducting airstrikes in Yemen at the request of ousted President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi since March, in an attempt to push the Houthi forces out of the areas under their control.

The United Nations estimates that over 2,000 civilians have been killed in the conflict with four out of five Yemenis displaced and in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
