Why Don't Gulf Arab 'Friends of Syria' Take in Any Refugees?
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova – The Gulf states need to share the responsibility with Europe for the violence in Syria and increase their financial aid to refugees, a member of the Lebanese parliament told Sputnik on Wednesday.

The Syrian government has repeatedly accused Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states in supporting armed groups in Syria.

“Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states are responsible for the crisis in Syria alongside with Europe and need to increase their financial aid to refugees in order to stop the migrant flow from the war-torn country,” Walid Sukkarieh, a member of the Lebanese parliamentary delegation currently on a visit to Moscow, said.

According to UN estimates, over 4 million Syrian have fled the country as a result of the four-year-long civil war between the government and opposition forces further complicated by numerous armed and extremist insurgent groups active in the country.
