CAIRO (Sputnik) — The lawyers representing former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi on Saturday filed an appeal against his death sentence, local media reported.
The lawyers found several dozen of reason to appeal the verdict, including the lack of evidence to give a death sentence, and infringement of the defendant’s rights, Al Ahram news portal reported Saturday.
The date of the appeal hearing has not yet been made public, according to the news portal. Previously, Morsi’s court hearings had been repeatedly postponed for numerous reasons, including ex-president’s health problems.
