MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Thursday morning, an explosives-laden vehicle detonated at a crowded market in the Iraqi capital, killing at least 76 people and injured some 200.
The attack was aimed at Shiite militia, who have been fighting against the religious extremist group in Iraq, according to an ISIL-linked Twitter account cited by the broadcaster.
ISIL condemns Shiites “to experience the same harm as their bombardments cause to our Muslim people,” the message said, as quoted by the BBC.
ISIL claims that Shiites are heretics and non-Muslims. The violent religious fundamentalist organization controls large parts of Iraq and Syria, and is notorious for numerous human rights atrocities against those that do not conform to their ideology.
