Three Israeli soldiers were wounded in the West Bank after being hit by a car near the northern city of Nablus, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Thursday.

TEL AVIV (Sputnik) — According to the statement, IDF shot the driver who they said deliberately hit the victims with the car.

According to the statement, two soldiers were severely wounded. The attacker was reported to be in serious condition.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the military shortly after the incident, saying the soldiers "reacted quickly to neutralize the terrorist," Haaretz newspaper reported.

The Israeli-occupied West Bank turned violent after an arson attack on July 31 in the village near Nablus, reportedly committed by Jewish extremists who threw firebombs into a household, killing a Palestinian toddler and injuring parents and a sibling with severe burns.
