SANAA (Sputnik) — Five people were killed and more than a dozen injured in airstrikes conducted by a Saudi-led coalition against Houthi militants in southern Yemen, a military source told Sputnik Sunday.

According to the source, the coalition bombed a number of facilities under Houthis’ control, including the security forces buildings, in the Lahij Governorate.

In a separate airstrike, at least 10 missiles hit a military camp in the western Yemeni governorate of Sanaa. No one was injured, as the soldiers were evacuated from the camp back in March.

Since early 2015, Yemen has been engulfed in military conflict between Houthis, the country’s main opposition faction, and government forces.

In late March, a Saudi-led coalition of Arab states began airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen at the request of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

On Saturday, the Saudi-led coalition announced the third five-day humanitarian truce with the Houthi movement to allow for aid to be delivered to those injured and displaced by the violence in Yemen. The truce was expected to come into force on Sunday night.

Since the conflict in Yemen escalated, more than 1,600 people were killed and more than 6,200 injured, according to the United Nations.
