BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – On Monday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution supporting the deal reached by Iran and the P5+1 group, comprising China, France, Russia, the United States, Britain and Germany on the Iranian nuclear program.
Mogherini’s visit to Iran will provide an opportunity to discuss the implementation of the agreement, the statement said.
On July 27, Mogherini is expected to meet Saudi authorities including the country’s Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir, the communique stated. EU and Saudi representatives will discuss bilateral relations and international issues in light of Iran’s nuclear deal.
On July 28, the EU's high representative will meet Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and other Iranian authorities in Tehran.
Under the newly-reached deal, Iran agreed to abstain from developing or acquiring a nuclear weapon, while the six world powers promised to ease sanctions earlier imposed against the country.
