A treasurer and a judge, both members of the Islamic State, fled the city of al-Shadadi located in al-Hasakah Governorate in northern Syria after government forces pushed back militants from more than 100 villages in the province.

The militants stole $10.85 million from the Islamic State treasury, according to Fars news agency, citing local sources. Their whereabouts are unknown.

Government forces launched an offensive against IS militants in the northern Syrian province, which is reportedly gaining momentum.
