Warplanes from the Royal Saudi Air Force appear to have struck the home of the son of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the capital of Sana'a.

Sana'a area journalist Mohamed Adel Arifi posted photos and video from the scene, stating that the explosions rocked the area near the home of the president's son. Photos and video show a large plum of smoke rising from the area.

Ali Abdullah Saleh served as Yemen's president from 1990 to 2012, following the unification of North and South Yemen. Prior to that, he served as the President of North Yemen.

Saleh has been been suspected of supporting the 2014-2015 Houthi uprising in Yemen, with tribesmen and government forces loyal to the former president joining the Houthis. The Houthis' advance prompted President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to seek safe haven in Saudi Arabia, and to urge Saudi Arabia to assist him in returning to power.

In March, a Saudi-led coalition consisting mostly of Gulf States launched a campaign of airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen. According to UN estimates, at least 1,850 people have been killed and some 7,400 injured in airstrikes and ground fighting between Houthis and forces loyal to Hadi since mid-March.
